The World's Libraries. Connected.
Connected—such a broad word with multiple meanings in the library community: libraries connecting people to knowledge, libraries connecting with patrons, and libraries connecting with other libraries.
How—in a locally, regionally, and globally networked world—do these evolving connections affect libraries and our perceptions in the eyes of our users? We'll look at examples from best selling books, such as Everything is Miscellaneous, MicroTrends, and The Economics of Attention, as well as OCLC's new report Sharing, Privacy and Trust in Our Networked World for inspiration as we explore how libraries connect to information, to their patrons, and to each other using traditional library services and emerging technologies.

Welcome
Keynote
The World's Libraries. Connected.
They impact people, libraries and cultural heritage institutions. Contrary to predictions of irrelevance, libraries have proven to be remarkably resilient. Libraries are rising in importance to the lives of a new generation of users. Our keynote will draw from recent Pew Internet & American Life Project studies and Richard Lanham's "The Economics of Attention," among other sources, to explore the sustaining connections between libraries and people that help us continue to thrive in an environment of scarce attention and scarce library resources.
Morning Sessions
Three Circles and a Cloud. OCLC: The Cooperative Supports People – Services – Connections
Libraries have always focused on services and connections to community and people. This session will explore how the cooperative is developing opportunities to enhance services and connections through governance, products, research and the new global identity.
