About the OCLC Western Service Center

Welcome to the OCLC Western Service Center, a division of the OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. From our offices in California and Washington we provide training, support, and sales to libraries in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.

The OCLC Western Service Center is your OCLC regional service provider and so much more. Our affiliation with OCLC means you receive the finest in education and support on all OCLC products and services. In addition, we act as your local outlet and advocate within the world's largest library cooperative.

Being a part of OCLC gives us a strategic advantage to meet your most pressing needs—now and for the future. As such, we are better able to complement OCLC products and services and provide you with training, consulting, digitization and preservation services, eContent and—most importantly—valuable discounts on library services and databases through our collective purchasing power.

Our History

The history and heritage of OCLC Western goes back more than 30 years. In 1976, OCLC formed OCLC Pacific to provide training and support to West Coast OCLC members. In January of 1999, OCLC Pacific merged with the Western Library Network (WLN) and became the OCLC/WLN Pacific Northwest Service Center, a single service provider for the Western United States, now called OCLC Western. The 2006 coming together of OCLC and RLG in California means that OCLC has an even deeper understanding of the issues that libraries and cultural heritage organizations face.

Our Mission

Our mission at OCLC Western is to provide high-quality, comprehensive support for and instruction in all aspects of OCLC products and services. To achieve this mission, we develop educational programs for today's and tomorrow's library environments. We facilitate communication between local users and OCLC management, policy makers and product developers about OCLC activities, research and emerging technologies.
